Why members needed help

Member support

What KRA staff faced from 1998 onward — and what TCU set out to defend: fair process, job security and a united voice.

Important limit: this page summarises the docs — general information only, not legal advice or representation. TCU was refused twice; no recognition or dues system exists via TCU. For urgent individual matters, seek independent legal advice.

What support meant in the docs

Defend innocent officers, check excesses, negotiate fairly.

  • Job security: officers dismissed or retired without clear recourse — from Commissioners to junior staff who bore the brunt when deals backfired.
  • Fair discipline: contemporaneous notes, proper hearings, court route when needed (e.g. Misc. 351/1999, HCCC 196/2000, HCCC 1511/2005).
  • Collective weight: single voices carried little weight; a recognised union could negotiate terms jointly — the core TCU concept.
  • Honest unionism: after the BIFU year Masoud warned against unions run as personal property without accounts — TCU aimed to be member-run.

How TCU would work

Member-run specific union: own constitution, branches, audited dues only after registration and recognition. See Phase 4.
